Freezing today, flurries this afternoon

Streamflow Situationfrom the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Ohio

Overcast and 28 degrees in the north, this is as good as it gets today for temperature. Expect snow showers, 30% chance of precipitation coming between 2pm and 4pm pushed along by a stiff west wind around 17 mph. This snow is not expected to accumulate, according to NWS Cleveland forecast office. Wilmington forecast office is calling for a 60% chance of flurries turning to snow showers, mainly between 2pm and 4pm. Mostly cloudy all day in the central and southern Counties, with a high near freezing and that brisk west wind, around 18 mph, gusting to 32 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible, be prepared for wind chill and slippery driving conditions.

Streamflows run normal to above normal throughout the Mississippi River drainage basin, south of the state height-of-land-divide. In the Lake Erie drainage basin, the northwest half runs below normal to much below normal, the northeast Ohio watersheds flowing to Lake Erie are rated seasonal normal to above normal. There are no high flows or flooding recorded in Ohio as of this report, no extreme low flows in the network Friday.

On the drought map, Ohio River minor tributary Wheeling Creek remains in moderate drought, the central interior Upper Scioto River watershed has cleared off the drought ratings dashboard, unrated as of this report. Most watersheds of Lake Erie West, along with adjacent Upper Great Miami River remain below normal. Muskingum River west basin watersheds remain below normal, Ohio River minor tributary Raccoon-Symmes is below normal, Shade River is unrated.
