Near freezing in the north, rain and snow forecast for Thanksgiving Day

Streamflow Situation
from the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Ohio
Cloudy, near freezing this morning, 33 degrees in the Lake Erie drainage basin north Ohio, a bit warmer in the south, 37 degrees both NWS local forecast offices in Ohio reporting a chance of rain today. Rain tonight will turn to snow Thanksgiving Day, travelers should be prepared for slippery road conditions on both sides of the drainage divide.

Streamflows continue mostly below normal with an increasing number of locations reporting below the 10th percentile, rated much below seasonal normal. Severe drought continues in one watershed statewide, the Ohio River minor tributary Wheeling Creek so impacted by dry conditions midweek. A wide swath of below normal moisture conditions is recorded from the northwest through central Ohio to the southeast.

There are no high flows or flooding recorded in Ohio as of this report, making this an especially good time to start thinking about reviewing the flood maps for your property. The FEMA Flood Map Service Center (MSC) is the official public source for flood hazard information produced in support of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Use the MSC to find your official flood map, access a range of other flood hazard products, and take advantage of tools for better understanding flood risk.

FEMA flood maps are continually updated through a variety of processes. Effective information that you download or print from this site may change or become superseded by new maps over time.
