NWS: Snow possible this afternoon

Streamflow Situation
from the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Ohio
Cleveland local forecast office reports overcast 35 degrees Friday morning, the forecast for today calling for showers and snow. Streamflows run an even mix of normal and below normal with one station recording a record low flow. Upper Muskingum River basin's Mill Creek runs a first percentile low flow near Coshocton. There are no high flows recorded in Ohio as of this report.

The drought map has recovered from moderate to severe drought statewide to approximately half the Ohio surface area rated below normal. Watersheds rated below normal in the northwest Lake Erie drainage basin include Tiffin River and Lower Maumee River watershed. Adjacent area across the height of land divide in the Upper Great Miami River watershed is rated below normal. Upper Muskingum River basin is rated below normal including Mohican, Walhonding, Tuscarawas, Muskingum River watersheds and Little Muskingum River watershed. Adjacent area in the Upper Ohio River minor tributaries rated below normal include Mahoning, Shenango, Little Beaver Creek. Wheeling Creek watershed is rated moderate drought.

WT HAB Tracker from the satellite monitoring program of the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science
The latest satellite image uploaded from NCCOS shows a cloud obscured Lake Erie, the picture snapped Nov 20 while the wind was 8.8 mph. Wind speed above 4 mph can submerge the normally buoyant HAB mats making them disappear from surface detection. Due to the cloud cover and wind speed, we cannot make a determination of HAB presence or extent in the west basin Lake Erie. As the satellite comes around again tomorrow we will have another opportunity to assess HABs in Lake Erie.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories

The BWA was applied to connections on Academy Street and Washington Street. Buckeye Water District serves 10,300 customers through 4289 service connections in Columbiana County, raw water is sourced from the Ohio River in the general area that receives drainage flow from Little Beaver Creek watershed.
