Bluegreen spotted in Sandusky Bay
WT HAB Tracker from the satellite monitoring program of the NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science(NCCOS)
The latest upload from NCCOS was captured Nov 12 at surface wind speed much lower than what we have had for the past week. This image is mostly cloud obscured and still higher wind than we prefer to see for a reliable assessment of HAB extent at 7.3 mph, however we do see the HAB in Sandusky Bay between clouds. The concentration appears to match the color scale for 500 thousand cells per ml.

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in the rivers and creeks of Ohio
Partly sunny with a high 54 today in the Lake Erie drainage basin north central Ohio midweek. Record low streamflows are popping up in the Great Miami and Scioto River basins after these large areas of west and central Ohio managed to escape the drought. It looks like the drought relief may be short lived, continue to exercise vigiliance around fire, the fuels are very dry most everywhere. The drought map has shifted significantly overnight, from large areas rated moderate drought now relieved of that status, the only areas still in moderate drought are Grand River watershed in the Lake Erie drainage basin and Raccoon-Symmes, Shade River watersheds in the Ohio Basin. The very small Laughery Creek watershed in Hamilton County is also still moderate drought, any other area of Ohio on the drought map this day is rated below normal at most. As streamflow trends over a week give us the drought picture, we expect to see these drought ratings escalating again after a few days of low flows statewide. See the map to the right for 1st percentile extreme low flows, marked up with red-brown location tags.
