Moderate to severe drought continues statewide

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in the rivers and creeks of Ohio
Mostly sunny today, high 56 in the Cleveland area with 60% chance of showers tonight. The streamflow map still runs in the below normal end of the spectrum, record low flows for the calendar date still showing up in central and south Ohio. Drought remains severe through the Muskingum River basin, Hocking River watershed and Little Muskingum River watersheds included. Shade River of the Ohio minor tributaries is still rated with severe drought. Moderate drought rating applies to Walhonding and Muskingum River watersheds with the lone watershed unrated in this drainage basin being Wills Creek. Most of the Ohio minor tributaries are in moderate drought, Mahoning and Brush Creek - Whiteoak Creek are rated below normal. In the Scioto basin, Paint Creek watershed remains at moderate drought, Upper Scioto sits with the below normal tag. In the Great Miami River watershed, Little Miami River is rated below normal.

On the north side of the drainage divide, Grand River watershed remains at the severe drought rating, further west the Sandusky River watershed is rated moderate drought. The northwest watersheds are below normal, Blanchard River and Cedar-Portage River watersheds remain free of drought rating.

WT HAB Tracker
from the satellite monitoring program of the NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science(NCCOS)

The latest upload from NCCOS was captured Nov 8 at surface wind speed 21.2 mph. The image is clear of cloud cover, a clear view of the Lake Erie west basin with no HAB activity showing. Note the high wind speed would push any open water HAB beneath the surface and out of view of the imaging equipment. We cannot make a reliable assessment of the HAB extent at this wind speed.
