2100 gallons of brine oil released in Tuscarawas Watershed

Auglaize Watershed: On September 30th, an unreported amount of crude oil was released on South Dixie Hwy in Shawnee Township, Allen County. On September 27th, unreported amounts of a contaminated material along with petroleum oil was released on South Metcalf St in Shawnee Township, Allen County.
Cuyahoga Watershed: On September 30th, an unknown amount of red material was released off Briar Rd in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County.
Mahoning Watershed: On September 29th, unreported amount of diesel was released from a vehicle that ran off the road on OH-11 in Liberty Township, Trumbull County.
Upper Scioto Watershed: On September 29th, 200 gallons of diesel fuel and motor oil were discharged along OH-270 in Columbus, Franklin County. On September 29th, 7000 gallons of milk was released along County Hwy 30 in Whitestone Township, Crawford County.
Raccoon - Symmes Watershed: On September 28th, sheen was reported on the surface of the Ohio River off Elm St in South Point, St Lawrence County.
Muskingum Watershed: On September 27th, an unreported amount of diesel was discharged into the Ohio River near Hwy 7 in Warren Township, Washington County.
Tuscarawas Watershed: On September 27th, 2100 gallons of brine oil was released on Coal Bank Rd in Baughman Township, Wayne County.
Cincinnati Watershed: On September 27th, 1500 gallons of grease from food was released on Dalton Ave, in Cincinnati, Hamilton County.

Spills, fish kills, rainbow sheen and releases of contaminants in the state of Ohio as reported to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Environmental Response. Users of this data should be aware that inconsistencies and inaccuracies may exist if these data are compared to data from other time periods due to changes in methods of data collection and mapping.
WTOH reports spills from OEPA with the following features: 
  • 40 gallons or more of petroleum product
  • toxic chemical materials, corrosives spills of any amount
  • all spills impacting water
Spills marked with asterisk are followed up with Ohio EPA authorities for additional information on the clean-up and recovery, including notices of violation and charges under State environmental statutes, federal charges under the Clean Water Act.
