Lake Erie west basin
The latest uploads from NCCOS captured Sep 27,28 and 29 are completely cloud obscured. The last clear image offering any sort of view of Lake Erie was taken Sep 25 at 13.1 mph, revealing again the widespread HAB in Portage River, advancing upstream, now approximately five miles inland from Port Clinton, high concentration 700 to 800 thousand cells per ml. The Maumee Bay HAB area is down in extent, from Maumee River outlet at Toledo through Maumee Bay State Park to Cedar Point National Wildlife Refuge. Note the algal toxin advisory from Ohio Department of Health has been rescinded. The north edge of the mass extends to the shore off Monroe, Michigan. Concentration is down to 700 to 900 thousand cells per ml at most, there are no hot spots any longer. Concentration tapers off in the north, down to 300 thousand cells per ml. See the latest Ohio HAB Tracker report, here.

Sandusky Bay and Muddy Creek Bay widespread HABs remain at high concentration, the highest in Muddy Creek Bay 900 thousand cells per ml, tapering off to 700 thousand cells by Cedar Point.ppear as dispersed mats 800 thousand cells per ml. The widespread HAB outside Cedar Point has diminished in extent and concentration, down to 50 thousand cells per ml. Widespread HAB south of Pelee Island appears at the low concentration also, 50 thousand cells per ml. See the NCCOS image here.

Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow gauges in Ohio
Ohio streamflows run normal to above seasonal normal Monday, the lower Great Miami and Little Miami River watersheds experiencing much above normal runs since Friday. The drought map has cleared accordingly, isolated areas still rated with varying degrees of drought severity include Wills Creek watershed in central Ohio Muskingum River basin, severe hydrologic drought impacting Guernsey County. Wills Creek water levels are up considerably today, this drought rating will likely come off in another day or two. A small area of moderate drought remains in the northeast Grand River watershed impacting Ashtabula County. Ohio River minor tributary Raccoon Symmes watershed is rated below normal, Tiffin River watershed is rated below normal in the northwest Lake Erie drainage basin. See the map to the right with the watershed layer switched to see which communities and counties are impacted by these drought ratings. As of this report, no extreme high or low flows are provisionally recorded in the network.
