Lake Erie west basin
A new upload from NCCOS captured Sep 14 at wind speed 3.4 mph, another clear view of the HAB at a low enough wind speed for a reliable interpretation of the bloom area and extent. The concentrations appear as reported yesterday, Maumee Bay widespread HAB 1 to 2 million cells per ml. Maumee Bay State Park shows a hot spot up to 2 million cells per ml along the beach in the west, the rest of the bloom area a consistent 1 million cells per ml. Sandusky Bay is still presenting with widespread HAB at concentration 700 thousand cells per ml on both sides of OH-269. Widespread HAB wraps around Kelleys Island extending up to Pelee Island, a moderate concentration 200 thousand cells per ml. See the NCCOS image here.
