Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow monitors in Ohio
Record low flow levels across central Ohio have sparked an area of moderate drought in the south central Scioto River basin and severe hydrologic drought in Muskingum River basin in Hocking River watershed and adjacent Ohio River minor tributary Raccoon-Symmes watershed. Five extreme low flows are registering across Ohio this day, these are the lowest flow levels recorded on a September 5th in the monitoring history for each site.

Lake Erie west basin
The latest picture of west basin Lake Erie was captured September 4 at wind speed 8.8 mph. This image is clear, showing the main HAB mass taking up the majority of the west basin, the bloom area extending beyond the international border into Canadian waters. Maumee Bay continues to experience the extreme high concentration hot spots, one near the outlet of Maumee River at Toledo 2 to 3 million cells per ml and in Maumee Bay State Park, widespread HAB large hot spot 3 to 4 million cells per ml concentration. The Ohio shoreline from Cedar Point to beyond the Huron River outlet is blanketed in HAB, Reno Beach experiencing 1 to 2 million cells per ml, tapering off to the east 400 to 500 thousand cells per ml. Sandusky Bay lakewide HAB 700 to 800 thousand cells per ml. See the Lake Erie HAB here.
Algal Toxin advisories remain in effect for Grand Lake Windy Point, Main East, Main West and St Mary's Camp beaches with cyanotoxins tested above the safe threshhold for recreational water. Maumee Bay State Park last cyanotoxin test came back at a level two and a half times the US EPA Health Advisory guidance. South Bass Island State Park is still officially listed with an active algal toxin advisory, the most recent test result is below the threshhold value. See the latest Ohio HAB report here.
