Report spills and environmental emergencies to Ohio EPA 24-hours a day, 365 days a year
The most recent spills files found were reported to Ohio EPA Spill line on September 3, 2024.
Upper Scioto Watershed: On September 1, an unreported amount of an unknown material and water was released on the 3000 block of North High St in Columbus, Franklin County.
Sandusky Watershed: On Sept 1, an unreported amount of motor oil has been released along the 3000 block of Mohawk Rd in Eden Township, Seneca County.
Ashtabula Watershed: On Sept 1, an unreported amount of gasoline was released north of Lake Rd, impacting Lake Erie in Geneva on the Lake, Ashtabula County.
Upper Ohio Watershed: On Sept 2, an unreported amount of sewage was discharged onto Shanley Dr in Wayne, Jefferson Township.
Grand Watershed: On Sept 2, a trade name material was released in unknown quantity on High St in Fairport, Lake County.
Huron Vermilion Watershed: On Sept 3, 100 gallons of diesel was released on State Route 61 in Greenfield Township, Huron County.

Spills, fish kills, rainbow sheen and releases of contaminants in the state of Ohio as reported to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Environmental Response. Users of this data should be aware that inconsistencies and inaccuracies may exist if these data are compared to data from other time periods due to changes in methods of data collection and mapping.
WTOH reports spills from OEPA with the following features:
- 40 gallons or more of petroleum product
- toxic chemical materials, corrosives spills of any amount
- all spills impacting water
Spills marked with asterisk are followed up with Ohio EPA authorities for additional information on the clean-up and recovery, including notices of violation and charges under State environmental statutes, federal charges under the Clean Water Act.
