Drinking Water Advisories
City of Toledo issued a boil water advisory Sunday for six customer connections on Talmadge Rd, addresses 4303 to 4349. Included in this BWA is J.Alexanders restaurant, until further notice.
Funigans public entertainment center in Sylvania is listed on the OEPA public drinking water advisories list with a boil water advisory issued December 18, 2023 for confirmed presence of e.coli. According to the OEPA list, Funigans has an active permit with a non-community system serving 250 persons or less from a groundwater source.
St. Clairsville City Public Water System came under an OEPA-issued Sensitive Populations Advisory on Feb 5, 2024 for disinfection byproduct Haloacetic acids (HAA5) tested above the maximum contaminant level. According to OEPA, a Sensitive Populations Advisory issued for haloacetic acids above MCL means "You do not need to use an alternative (e.g. bottled) water supply. However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor."
Long term drinking water advisories are issued by OEPA when drinking water facilities report contaminants above the maximum contaminant level, or presence of e.coli. The advisories range from boil water to do not consume, including sensitive populations advisories. Sensitive populations advisories are not tagged on the map as these do not require an alternative water source for most people. The senstivie population should avoid drinking water from these public facilities. Note that not all drinking water concerns can be resolved by boiling. Boiling water is required in cases of microbiological contamination. For contaminants above the maximum level, boiling will not resolve the issue.
Streamflow Situation from USGS current streamflow monitors
Below normal to much below seasonal normal streamflows dominate north and central Ohio Tuesday. The Ohio River minor tributaries remain on a seasonal normal streamflow trend. With the first spring rain expected across the north today, streamflows may pick up through the day. More to follow.
Three low rated flows are registering in the state Tuesday, all located in the Lake Erie basin. As yesterday, Rock Creek in the Sandusky River watershed is running 2nd percentile. One station on the Cuyahoga River is rated low, Newburgh Heights monitor says 3rd percentile. On the west side, Auglaize River is running extreme low 1st percentile at Fort Jennings. No high flows or flood conditions observed as of this report.
Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow against seasonal average
All surface area of the Lake Erie drainage basin is caught up in a drought rating Tuesday. Lower Maumee and Cedar Portage watershed have filled in the last remaining gap in the drought map, the entire area north of the state height-of-land-divide now bearing at minimum a below normal rating. Huron-Vermilion River watershed is rated moderate drought.
South of the divide, all drainage toward the Mississippi River is clear of a drought rating.
