National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook issued 557 am Feb 17
Southwest winds will increase tonight and wind gusts over 35 mph are possible. Southwest wind gusts over 35 mph are possible into Sunday.
Impacting Lucas-Wood-Ottawa-Sandusky-Erie-Lorain-Cuyahoga-Lake-Geauga-Ashtabula Inland-Hancock-Seneca-Huron-Medina-Summit-Portage-Trumbull- Wyandot-Crawford-Richland-Ashland-Wayne-Stark-Mahoning-Marion-Morrow-Holmes-Knox-Ashtabula Counties Lakeshore.

Streamflow Situation from USGS Waterwatch based on real-time flow monitors across Ohio
The ratings have shifted further below normal Saturday. Low flows and high winds this weekend will escalate drought conditions north of the state drainage divide.

No extreme high or low flows recorded at this time.

Drinking Water Matters
Lake Erie is the drinking water source for 12.5 million people in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Ontario, Canada, including 3 million people in Ohio.

Countdown is on to the critical window for Lake Erie water quality 2024. WTOH.us is observing and reporting streamflow levels in the west Lake Erie drainage basin, also known as the Maumee River basin, check back here for a daily update on the moisture conditions in this sensitive landscape with the potential to accelerate or manage the Lake Erie HAB for the upcoming season.

Maumee Basin: St Marys River joins Blanchard River and Auglaize River watershed at below normal Saturday.

To the east in the Lake Erie drainage basin Huron-Vermillion watershed joins Ashtabula-Chagrin River and Grand River watersheds rated below normal.

South of the drainage divide, Shade River watershed has reached moderate drought stage. Most of the Miami, Scioto and Muskingum drainage basins are now rated below normal.

The height-of-land divide in Ohio runs from Mercer County in the west angling northeast up to Ashtabula County on the east state border. Streamflows north of the divide feed Lake Erie, flows south of the divide run to the Ohio River, part of the Mississippi River basin that drains the majority of interior North America to the Gulf of Mexico.

Drinking Water Matters
Hillsboro City officials issued a boil water advisory Feb 12 for residents living on Marys Lane and Elizabeth Drive until further notice.
