City of Bellefontaine has issued a BWA following a water main break yesterday. The advisory applies for all customer connections on Pleasant Drive.
Harmful Algal Bloom update based on the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) satellite monitoring program
A new image provided by NCCOS was captured on Jan 5 at surface wind conditions 13 mph gives a clear view of Sandusky Bay and open water to the east. Maumee Bay and west shore of Lake Erie are completely cloud obscured in this image.
Widespread HAB is visible at the outer edge of Sandusky Bay at 100 thousand cells per 100 ml. Widespread HAB activity extends east as far as the east edge of the image frame, approximately Vermilion-on-the-Lake, HAB extends five to seven miles into the lake. The bloom concentration is 100 thousand cells per 100 ml
Streamflow Situation from USGS Waterwatch based on real-time flow monitors across Ohio
Flows in central Ohio to the west state line are trending below seasonal normal. Several stations in central Ohio are recording much below normal flows Monday morning.
There are no USGS gauges reporting extreme high or low flow values as of this update.

A strong low pressure system will enter the Great Lakes region for Tuesday and Wednesday. This system will bring elevated winds to the region with gusts over 40 mph possible on Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds will be favored out of the southeast on Tuesday and southwest
on Wednesday. A wind advisory may be needed.
Drought situation from USGS Waterwatch 7-day average streamflow compared with historic flow for today's date
Licking River watershed enters the drought map over the weekend, Licking County joins the Hocking River waterhed, adjacent to Upper Ohio Shade River watershed and Wheeling Creek watershed, all rated below normal Monday. Middle Ohio River minor tributaries Brush Creek and Whiteoak Creek watersheds are showing below normal, along with Lower Scioto River's Tygarts watershed, still below normal. Lower Great Miami River watershed remains in moderate drought, including Preble, Montgomery, Butler and northwest Hamilton Counties. Upper Great Miami remains in below normal status on the Ohio drought map Monday.
On the Lake Erie side of the state divide, Auglaize River watershed remains at moderate drought, with adjacent St Josephs, TIffin and Blanchard River watersheds rejoining the drought map over the weekend, appearing like Auglaize-adjacent St Marys watershed, below normal.
The height-of-land divide in Ohio runs from Mercer County in the west angling northeast up to Ashtabula County on the east state border. Streamflows north of the divide feed Lake Erie, flows south of the divide run to the Ohio River, part of the Mississippi River basin that drains the majority of interior North America to the Gulf of Mexico.
As streamflow conditions shift and change in the Ohio River basin, track the effects south down the Mississippi River into to Louisiana. Louisiana is rated "Exceptional Drought" on the USA National drought map, experiencing the most prolonged and severe dry conditions in decades.
