High water announcements expanding in Ohio December 1
Emergency managers are set to receive high water forecast and warning services for the Cuyahoga River at Jaite, beginning December 1, according to an announcement from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office in Cleveland.
River Forecast and Warning Services receiving measurements from the USGS streamflow monitoring station at Jaite will communicate the water levels on Cuyahoga River at the Jaite location, approximately 1.5 miles south of the Sagamore Hills in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Action stage at this location is determined at 10 feet, minor flood stage 12 feet, moderate flood is reached at 18 ft, and major flood at 20 ft.
This real-time data monitoring announced to subscribers is another tool in the flood mitigation and adaptation kit and invaluable for emergency managers.
