Flooding Shade River, record high Ohio Brush Creek, Twin Creek
Streamflow Situation from the network of US Geological Survey monitors in Ohio
Shade River is flooding near Chester as of 530 am, currently two and a half feet over minor flood stage, still rising though the rate of rise is slowing down. This site was running a level trend around five and a half feet deep until around 830 last night. The flash gained 13 ft over 14 hours.
Record high water levels are recorded on Ohio Brush Creek near West Union and Upper Twin Creek at McGaw. Each of these Ohio River tributaries appear to be on the same flash flood trend as the Shade River to the east. Ohio Brush Creek started rising just after midnight, quintupling in depth over seven hours, flashing from 3 ft to 15 ft by 830 am. This station records peak flow in action stage, just one foot away from flood stage, currently on the decline. Upper Twin Creek started to rise just before 10 pm last night, rushing from 1.23 ft to 4 ft by 4 am. The level is receding here as well, down to 3 ft deep as of this report.
Current streamflows continue at seasonal normal across the north and south with the band of below normal observations continuing through the interior, two low rated flows today include an extreme low, first percentile continuing as recorded yesterday in Short Creek near Dillonvale. Salt Creek is also low, 2nd percentile near Chandlersville in the Muskingum River watershed.
Guernsey County is drought free Thursday, the first time Wills Creek watershed has been off the drought map in months. Muskingum and Licking River watersheds remain below normal, along with Ohio River minor tributary Wheeling Creek. Fog-mist in north-central Ohio Thursday, heading for a high of 40 with patchy fog hanging around until noon. Clouds this afternoon with west wind around 16 mph, gusts as high as 28 mph. Tonight
mostly cloudy, clearing gradually overnight as the temp drops to 24, that west wind continuing to gust up to 26 mph. It is overcast in the south, 43 degrees heading for a partly sunny day, high 47.

Hardin County: Kenton Water service was disrupted on Sunday for infrastructure upgrades to be completed by midnight Sunday night. Customers on a precautionary boil water order following restoration of that water service include properties on N. Detroit and Courthouse Sq., the BWA will remain in force until samples show clear of contamination two consecutive daily draws. Watch for the announcement from the local officials to confirm tapwater safe to drink without boiling.
Kenton City serves 8830 residents from a groundwater source in Upper Scioto River watershed. EPA notes non-compliance issues in the last twelve out of twelve quarters concerning groundwater treatment technique and Consumer Confidence Rule.
