(2000) A corporation contracted to operate six wastewater treatment plants for Muskingum County falsified reports of the levels of contaminants in effluent release, including the amount of ammonia and fecal coliform bacteria. Two key personnel with the corporation were charged and indicted on a total of 72 counts of violating the Clean Water Act. The corporation was fined $50,000 one of the individuals involved was sentenced to 27 months incarceration, a year of probation and a $6000 fine; the other defendant served twelve months of supervised confinement and 384 hours of community service, along with a $2000 special assessment fee.
