Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS river monitoring sites in Ohio
A few clouds, 12 degrees ( -11 C) going up to 20 Fahrenheit today. Wind 14 to 18 mph creates a wind chill effect comparable to -3 F. The south is under a wind chill warning as well, down to 0.
Streamflow levels run below normal to seasonal normal from the southwest to the northeast, much below normal to low ratings still showing up in the northwest and southeast, impacting both sides of the drainage divide.
The drought continues to improve, severe drought rating on St Josephs River watershed is down to moderate drought. A large area of the upper Muskingum River basin has cleared the drought map entirely unrated, that's Tuscarawas River watershed, no longer rated below normal. Four of 32 watersheds show the moderate drought rating statewide. In addition to St Josephs, Sandusky River watershed in the Lake Erie drainage basin northwest, and two Ohio River minor tributaries in the south, the Wheeling Creek and Racoon-Symmes watershed. Areas that remain below normal include the entire northwest not otherwise rated moderate drought. In the west, the Upper Great Miami and Little Miami River watersheds still below normal, in central Ohio, Paint Creek, Lower Scioto River and Tygarts watersheds are rated below normal. In the Muskingum upper basin, Mohican, Walhonding and Little Muskingum River watersheds remain below normal. Ohio River minor tributaries rated below normal include Little Beaver Creek, Shade River and Laughery Creek watersheds.
