Little Muskingum River watershed in moderate drought

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitors in Ohio

Ohio streamflows continue to run below normal to much below normal through much of the south state Tuesday. Severe drought remains on Lower Maumee and Auglaize River watersheds of the Lake Erie west draingae area, Lower Maumee watershed is in moderate drought. Walhonding and Muskingum River watersheds remain in severe drought, bordered by the Little Muskingum River watershed jumped up to moderate drought, now matching the adjacent watersheds to the south of the severe area at moderate drought. Ohio River minor tributary Wheeling Creek remains in severe drought. The east side of Lake Erie basin remains unrated, along with the Scioto River basin through central and south central Ohio.

The latest upload from NCCOS was captured Oct 21 at surface wind speed 13.1 mph, a clear view of the west basin Lake Erie. HABs in the west are down to localized blooms along the shorelines, no more than 100 thousand cells per ml in a narrow band extending along shore from Cedar Point to Port Clinton. Open water HABs off the east shore Catawba Island is 100 thousand cells per ml or less with a large area of dispersed open water bloom approximately 1 nm off the shore from Huron. Sandusky Bay HAB appears broken up into dispersed mats at high concentration 700 thousand cells per ml.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Jefferson County: City of Steubenville issued a BWA for customers on the West End water system both sides of Sunset Blvd from Hollywood Blvd to Efts Lane, including Lovers Lane to County Road 26 for an unknown condition yesterday. City of Steubenville serves a population of 17,000 from a surface water intake in the Ohio River.

Crawford County: Bucyrus came under a BWA following a water main break Friday. Customers on West Beal Ave, from Rosedale Ave to Linwood Dr, and all Southern Lights Shopping Center were impacted. Bucyrus provides potable water service for 12570 residential customers with raw water sourced from a number of surface water reservoirs filled by Sandusky River.
