Safe Drinking Water Advisories
The Village of Ashville issued a BWA for customers on Hawthorne Drive following a water main break on Thursday, August 15. Water service was disrupted, the precautionary boil order applied to connections along Hawthorne Drive from Thompson Ave to Dunbar Street. Ashville Village Public Water System serves 4298 residential customers through combined connections numbering 1578, the raw water source from one of four groundwater wells in Ashville, or purchased from South Bloomfield PWS.

Lake Erie west basin
The latest image from NCCOS was captured August 17 at high wind speed 17.4 mph, mostly cloud obscured. Lake Erie HAB is showing between clouds around 2 to 3 nautical miles off shore of Maumee Bay State Park with ten to twelve miles of the open water bluegreen at concentration as high as 2 million at Cedar Point tapering off to 1 million for the majority of the area, down to 300 thoudand around the edges of the mass. A prior image captured Aug 15 reveals North Maumee Bay bluegreen at 600 thousand cells per 100 ml extending north past Monroe, Michigan. The Aug 14 image was completely clear and taken at a lower wind speed, revealing the full extent of the HAB with extreme high concentration hot spots up to 6 million cells per 100 ml, see the satellite image here.

The latest image of Lake Champlain was captured August 17, mostly cloud obscured, the northmost shoreline piece of Baie Missisquoi HAB is visible between clouds at over 2 million cells per 100 ml. The last fully clear image was captured August 14 revealing the entirety of northeast Baie Missisquoi, brimming with bluegreen algae at extreme high concentration 1 to 3 million cells per 100 ml. The south extent is in the channel from North Hero Island to Isle la Motte, at 900 thousand cells per 100 ml concentration. St Albans Bay HAB is partially cloud obscured in the Aug 14 image, the inner shoreline edge offering 1 million cells per 100 ml. Lake Carmi appears clear with no HAB activity; Shelburne Pond was blazing away at 2 million plus cells concentration in Vermont. See our latest report here.
One hundred and fifty-two HABs are confirmed in New York Sunday afternoon, down from up from 168 yesterday at this time. No new reports have been confirmed so far today, several reports made prior to August 4 have been retired to the archives overnight. First HABs of the season were confirmed yesterday for Hemlock Lake, Barnum Pond and Lake Tonetta. See the impacted water bodies list here.
Louisiana: The latest upload from the NCCOS was captured August 17 at low wind speed 3.3 mph. This image is clear, very similar to the prior image, Lac des Allemands and Bayou Fortier remain at the extreme high concentration, 4 to 5 million cells per 100 ml starting from the west bay and north shorelines, respectively. Lakes Field has also escalated in bluegreen concentration, up to 4 million cells per 100 ml. Lake Pontchartrain and Maurepas are entirely visible in this image with no cloud cover; there is no HAB activity observed on either water body. Check out the latest satellite image from NCCOS here.
