Grand River impacted by white material in the Grand River Watershed

The most recent spills files found were reported to Ohio EPA Spill line on June 13.

On Thursday, June 13 four spills were reported. In the Little Miami Watershed, an unreported amount of trade name mixture was released off Joycie Ln in Waynesville Town, in Warren County. In the Ohio Brush - White Oak Watershed, 60 gallons of diesel was spilled from a vehicle and released onto the pavement along Township Hwy 307 in Huntington Township, Brown County. Unspecified amounts of diesel was discharging from a traffic accident in the Mohican Watershed, on US-30 Hwy in Mifflin Township of Richland County. Lastly, in the Lower Great Miami Watershed, unreported amounts of an unknown chemical was spilled along Butler County Veterans Hwy in Liberty Township, in Butler County.


Earlier this week:

On Tuesday, June 11 two spills were reported. An unspecified amount of white material was noted along the OH-45 Highway impacting Grand River in Morgan Township, Ashtabula County. Lastly, an unreported amount of trade name mixture material was reported spilled on the 6000 block of Greenbud Dr in Wayne Township in Clermont County.

Spills, fish kills, rainbow sheen and releases of contaminants in the state of Ohio as reported to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Environmental Response. Users of this data should be aware that inconsistencies and inaccuracies may exist if these data are compared to data from other time periods due to changes in methods of data collection and mapping.
WTOH reports spills from OEPA with the following features: 
  • 40 gallons or more of petroleum product
  • toxic chemical materials, corrosives spills of any amount
  • all spills impacting water
Spills marked with asterisk are followed up with Ohio EPA authorities for additional information on the clean-up and recovery, including notices of violation and charges under State environmental statutes, federal charges under the Clean Water Act.
