Report spills and environmental emergencies to Ohio EPA 24-hours a day, 365 days a year


The most recent spills file found was reported to Ohio EPA Spill line on May 4 .

Seven spills were reported for this date. 100 gallons of hydraulic oil is reported to have been spilled on the Dwight D Eisenhower Hwy in Richland Township, in Belmont County. 3 gallons of sewage sludge was released on Cuyahoga River Rd in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County. Fish kill was reported, in an unknown amount and in an area off Fulton Dr NW in Jackson Township, Stark County. There is no reported waterbody but there is a stream nearby that runs to Nobles Pond which may be the impacted stream. 1 compact fluorescent lamp bulb was abandoned off Bowling Green Rd in Gahanna, Franklin County. There was an unknown material that was reported spilled in unreported amounts on OH-7 in Cheshire Township, Gallia County. Sheen was also noted with this report, and the source of this material is unreported. An unknown amount of hydraulic oil is reported to have spilled on Almahurst Lane in Miami Township of Clermont County. Lastly, an unknown amount of diesel was reported to have been spilled off Haughn Rd in Jackson Township of Franklin County.

Spills, fish kills, rainbow sheen and releases of contaminants in the state of Ohio as reported to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Environmental Response. Users of this data should be aware that inconsistencies and inaccuracies may exist if these data are compared to data from other time periods due to changes in methods of data collection and mapping.
WTOH reports spills from OEPA with the following features: 
  • 40 gallons or more of petroleum product
  • toxic chemical materials, corrosives spills of any amount
  • all spills impacting water
Spills marked with asterisk are followed up with Ohio EPA authorities for additional information on the clean-up and recovery, including notices of violation and charges under State environmental statutes, federal charges under the Clean Water Act.
