The most recent spill date reported for Ohio is March 7. Three spills were reported for this day.
Two spills are petroleum related and one spill is toxic
Noted for this day is a 4956 gallon brine oil spill on OH-80 in Hubbard Township
Other spills reported previously this week that should be noted occurred March 6. Unknown amount of lime sludge and white material spilled off Westerville Rd impacting Alum Creek. 100 lbs of ammonia and 110 lbs of anhydrous ammonia released off Harper Rd in Solon.
March 5 has also been updated - 196000 lbs of ammonium sulphate spilled on Santa Fe - New Knoxville Rd in Clay Township. This is an inorganic substance commonly used as fertilizer.
Spills, fish kills, rainbow sheen and releases of contaminants in the state of Ohio as reported to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Environmental Response. Users of this data should be aware that inconsistencies and inaccuracies may exist if these data are compared to data from other time periods due to changes in methods of data collection and mapping.
WTOH reports spills from OEPA with the following features:
- 40 gallons or more of petroleum product
- toxic chemical materials, corrosives spills of any amount
- all spills impacting water
