Winds are expected this afternoon and evening with gusts of 35 to 45 mph.
Impacting Geauga-Ashtabula Inland-Summit-Portage-Trumbull-Wayne-Stark-Mahoning-Marion-Morrow-Holmes-Knox-Crawford Counties.


Streamflow Situation from USGS Waterwatch based on real-time flow monitors across Ohio
The ratings have shifted further below normal Thursday, combined with a high winds today will escalate drought conditions north of the state drainage divide Thursday.

Sevenmile Creek is flowing low at Camden in the Great Miami basin.

Drinking Water Matters
Lake Erie is the drinking water source for 12.5 million people in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Ontario, Canada, including 3 million people in Ohio.

Countdown is on to the critical window for Lake Erie water quality 2024. WTOH.us is observing and reporting streamflow levels in the west Lake Erie drainage basin, also known as the Maumee River basin, check back here for a daily update on the moisture conditions in this sensitive landscape with the potential to accelerate or manage the Lake Erie HAB for the upcoming season.

Maumee Basin: Blanchard River watershed joins the Auglaize River watershed at below normal Thursday.

To the east in the Lake Erie drainage basin Ashtabula-Chagrin River and Grand River watersheds hold to the below normal rating.

South of the drainage divide, Upper Scioto River watershed jumps on the drought map Thursday. Adjacent in the Muskingum River basin, the Hocking River watershed rated below normal. Adjacent Ohio River minor tributaries Raccoon-Symmes, Shade River and Little Muskingum River watersheds remain below normal Thursday. Upper Ohio River minor tributary Little Beaver Creek watershed is new on the map today at below normal.

Lower Great Miami River watershed remains below normal again today.

The height-of-land divide in Ohio runs from Mercer County in the west angling northeast up to Ashtabula County on the east state border. Streamflows north of the divide feed Lake Erie, flows south of the divide run to the Ohio River, part of the Mississippi River basin that drains the majority of interior North America to the Gulf of Mexico.

Drinking Water Matters
Hillsboro City officials issued a boil water advisory Feb 12 for residents living on Marys Lane and Elizabeth Drive until further notice.
